I did PhillyCAM

This afternoon, I performed again in Conversations Across Time, the show hosted by my friend Vivienne Crawford; and again, I portrayed Lyndon Johnson, and Mark Hoffman portrayed Michael Schwerner, one of the three civil rights activists who, while trying to register Black people to vote in Mississippi, were killed the Klan, with collusion by the local police.

The theme was to urge people to vote; it is a precious right to have, not to be neglected, especially when we have a flat-out racist-sexist-fascist psychopath running for President. People like Schwerner, Goodman, and Cheney gave their lives to make sure people have the right to vote; please, don’t let their sacrifice be for naught, get out and vote tomorrow.

Tomorrow and Tuesday (after I vote), I will be at PhillyCAM again performing on Conversations Across Time; THIS time, we will be performing LIVE, and I will again play Lyndon B. Johnson, and we will discuss the urgency of getting out to vote-PLEASE get out and VOTE! PhillyCAM is on channel 29 on Verizon FIOS and channel 66 on Comcast. April 26 will be the day of the primary election in Pennsylvania. I urge everyone within the sound of my blog to get their asses out and VOTE. Your candidate may not win, Lord knows I’ve backed some lost but noble causes, but it will show the political bosses we are paying attention to what goes on in the world.

With that in mind I hereby announce my endorsement for President of the United States-Bernie Sanders. I do NOT swallow the established media line that Hillary Clinton-who started as a Goldwater Girl back in the ’60s, and supports a pro-corporate agenda as bad as the Republicans-owns this or that voting block, or that she has the nomination in the bag just because the party apparatus is on her side.

The only real reason she became a Senator was by being first lady to Bill Clinton, who was as pro-corporate as any Republican Senator-he pushed the North American Free Trade Agreement, which took jobs out of this country, causing massive unemployment for American workers. Plus, after losing the 1994 congressional elections, Clinton hired Dick Morris, a conservative republican political manager, to be his political advisor in moving to the right, so therefore leaving American voters with no real choice in political options.

On the other hand, Bernie Sanders, a Democratic Socialist and proud of it, comes from outside the “two party” apparatus, (which to be is as much part of the government apparatus as the Army), and has a track record of pro-people activism, including work in the Civil Rights movement. Plus, younger people are coming up who have no memory of the Soviet Union, so the “Red Scare” of associating Socialism with Communism won’t work anymore. People are turned off anymore by the “two-party” system, whereby one party does not check or balance the other party, but they have the same corporate paymasters donating to their campaigns.

With the people on the streets, and the artistry going on-the kind of stuff you would not take place in any regular political campaign-it’s not just a campaign, it IS a revolution going on, a serious upheaval, a big change coming on in this country. Be a part of it and vote.

Republicans have whined forever about “voter fraud,” and thus have implemented voter ID laws to supress voters likely to vote Democratic. How the HELL is THIS for voting fraud? And how is THIS for a civics lesson? The idea of democracy is both sides respect eachother. The way things are going, the Democrats are playing nice while the Republicans are in full schoolyard bully mode, and we get yelled at if we stnd up for ourselves. Why not? They want a rumble, let’s GIVE it to them!

I voted, did YOU?

The first thing I did this morning before going to my job was to go to my polling place-the only REAL poll-and I voted. There was a line of people there, in spite of the media talk about light voter turnout in a midterm election. The stakes are high this election, control fo teh US Senate, governors’ races, that touch on us on a daily basis. How did we get to this place that people don’t go to vote, as if it doesn’t have anyting to do with them-it definately does. We have to change the culture of this contry to elimanate the “I don’t care, I got my own problems” attitude that causes people to stay away from voting-the people we elect deal with such issues as taxes, schools, roads, air and water pollution, and that is EVERY person’s problem. We don’t live in isolation, no matter how hard we act like it. PLEASE, for your sake, for the sake of your community and country, VOTE. I’m John Oliver Mason and I approve this message.

Tomorrow, November 4, I will participate in the ultimate act of democracy, going to the polls and voting for candidantes I believe are best suited to run my state (Pennsylvania) and my nation. I will go and vote, and decide for my OWN self, and not have the commercial “news” media, owned by trillion-dollar corporations ownd by plutocrats, tell me not to bother, since “the polls” say our side is going to lose. Well, our side will lose only if we DON’T get out and vote, and not let some articifically concocted “opinion” tell us not to bother.

The “liberal slanted news media” keeps talking about how the Republicans will win big this election year. If so, THIS is how they’ll do it, “democratic process” be damned! And of course the same “news media” so-called will tell us to go along with such results from voter fraud done my Republicans. I say NO WAY! Let’s hit the streets to demand our government back from the plutocratic puppets.
