There was a time when the left-liberal wing of the Democratic party was shunned by the party apparatus, after the Nixon reelection of 1972 and the election of 1988, when the Republicans called Michael Dukakus a “liberal,” like it was an STD. (With his treatment of welfare recipients and the LGBT community, he was anything but.)
Now, the progressive element of the party is on the march. Great, and I’m in the movement that will eventually move the country more towards Democratic Socialism.
“These people can now stop pretty much anyone they want”: Wall Street in the Elizabeth Warren era – Salon.com
Class warfare? The wealthy and corporations, with their political puppets in office, have waged a sucessful class war on the poor, the middle class, and working people. And it’s this Reeaganomics 3.0 that Hatch is regurgitating-tax cuts for corporations-that brought about the economic catastrophe we have now.
Job creators? It’s the classic blackmail act of corporatist Republicans; “Do as we, the corporations, say, or we’ll take our factories, AND your jobs, somewheres else.” Well, our politicians swalllowed that line and did their corporate masters’ bidding-and they STILL closed factories in this country and set up their factories in such places as Haiti, Mexaco, and Bangladesh, where the government represses to death efforts of workers to organize, and the enviromental and occupations safety laws are non-existant. HERE, folks has been the result of your beloved “free market, neoliberal” economics.
‘Class warfare’: GOP senator attacks Obama’s plan to close tax loopholes for the wealthy
I KNEW that “barefoot in poverty” line was a fraud. THIS is the face the Republican party wants to present? Fables of poverty to try to relate to working and poor people, while taking corporate money in the BILLIONS?

With the election of Obama as President, the cover has come off conservativism; for all its talk about “limited government” and “free market,” the true nature of conservativism is to restore and maintain power for the upper classes, repress those of the lower classes who would stand up to their “betters,” and find some dupes in the lower classes to do their enforcement for them.
In spite of conservative denials, fascism is conservativism on steriods, the most extreme movement to repress the masses and enforce “traditional values.”
The Conservative Mind – The Chronicle Review – The Chronicle of Higher Education
This is a terrible attempt to distract from the reality of state violence. I have MANY great friends in the police community, fine folk trying to help the public. Conservatives do what they can to evade and avoid facing social issues, and so the make villians out of people pointing out the problems.

All through the ‘seventies and onward, I heard so much about the”left-liberal-slanted news media.” It was a form of denial of reality on the far right, whenever things don’t go their way or there is information that doesn’t suit their dogma. Media organizations are for-profit corporations, and they adapt their news to benefit other for-profit corporations, the same ones that have dominated our society and politics forever. The hiring of an all-out racist on a “mainstream” news show will, I hope, put that myth to rest.
