Lately in financial circles, there is talk about the “taco trade”—“taco” being an acronym for “Trump always chickens out.” It speaks about how trump constantly threatens to impose huge tariffs on nations, such as China, Canada, and the European Union, sending their goods to the United States—then suddenly postponing the implementation of the tariffs to a later date.

trump has no idea about how tariffs work, or their effectiveness, or their effect on the exporting countries and American consumers. These are the acts of an intellectually limited man who didn’t consult with trained economists about how to do tariffs right, but, like a megalomaniacal wannabe emperor, proclaimed tariff rates from on high, as part of his imperial delusions, like his idea of annexing Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal.
Meanwhile, the stock market bounces up and down after everything he utters, while the importing companies pass the cost of the tariffs to the consumer, thus raising the prices at the market; trump, acting like the champion of the American workers he isn’t, told the chain Walmart to “eat the tariffs,” trying to dodge responsibility of any inflation of consumer goods, refusing to believe he’s anything but infallible. . Typical trump—the “man” who brags about his bad-ass-ness in dealing with foreign adversaries, about tariffs and everything else, but cops out when there’s a merest hint of resistance and payback. It matches his media-manufactured legend of being a great dealmaker and business whiz. It’s nothing but big talk and bullshit. Since he isn’t so damn tough, we, the American people can stand up to him as well. Think about it, while having a nice taco.
