Conservatives: We’ll Spill Blood to Keep Our Guns | The New Republic

During the Sixties and Seventies, the right-wing slogan was “law and order” and “support you local police.” But it was THEIR law and THEIR order they wanted, not protection from crime; and they only support law enforcement if it was THEIR law they enforced. We can’t be intimidated, we must resist the slide to fascism. We must stand up for our rights against these bullies and thugs.

Rosh Ha-Shona 2019

We are now in the month of Elul, the month before Rosh Ha-Shona, the Jewish New year. this is the traditional time for reflection on the past year, and how we can refine our lives even better.

As part of Rosh Ha-Shona, I have my Rosh Ha-Shona resolutions, compatible is those for New Year’s, my birthday, and Pesach:

I will continue to conduct myself with self-love,self-esteem,and self-respect, rejecting negativity in my mind and my life-I deserve better.

I will continue my art and business as a writer, attending writer’s gatherings, classes, conferences, etc.

I will continue to be loyal to Jewish traditions, religion, culture, etc.

I will continue to look up various educational venues-classes, galleries, museums, libraries, lectures, etc.

I will continue to improve my social skills.

Labor Day in Philadelphia

Yesterday I proudly took part in the 32nd Annual Tri-State Labor Day Parade and Family Celebration, on Monday, September 2. We assembled at the Sheet Metal workers hall, 1301 S. Columbus Boulevard.

Getting ready to march in OUR parade…
…honoring our history and our solidarity.
Sounds from the Avalon String Band.
John Greer, chair of the parade’s organizing committee, opening the program.
Amanda Hammock, AKA Rosie the Riveter, striking a pose for freedom.
The wrench, uh, torch passing to a new generation of Rosies.
The working people of Philadelphia, the stars of the show.
