Let’s get some things straight here:

The shooting of Steve Scalise was a tragedy; from what I learn of it, it is not an act of terrorism, but the act of a disordered mind.

Bernie Sanders has never, NEVER, advocated violence against Republicans.

All during the Obama administration, Republicans have encouraged the most extreme elements of the right to act out the ideas that Obama was a Kenyan-Muslim-Communist, using the most vicious racist stereotypes, and they said nothing when pictures and effigies of Obama came out about him being assassinated or hanged. The Republicans organized these people into the tea parties to utilize their volunteer work and their votes, never discouraging their heated racist rhetorical.

trump himself has encouraged his supporters to beat up protestors at his rallies, promising to pay their legal fees. Is THIS the act of a statesman wanting civil discourse?

I dread the idea that the Republicans will use this tragedy as an excuse to suspend civil liberties and round up opponents, but it’s as if all bets are off in today’s American politics, what would seem likely is getting more plausible.
