James Baldwin: The Price of the Ticket

I have just come from the Ethical Society of Philadelphia (phillyethics.org), 1906 Rittenhouse Square, for a viewing of the documentary James Baldwin: The Price of the Ticket. It was a fundraising event for Camp Linden, a summer camp for kids in Chester County PA, which the Society sponsors. I went to the viewing with friends of mine from my synagogue, Leyv ha-Ir (leyvhair.org), which meets at the Society. This was  a great film about one of the greatest authors, activists, and public intellectuals this country has produced; a man who went in White America’s face with its racial problems with no fear.
