Sudanese players and athletes refuse to compete against Israelis because the country does not recognize Israel’s existence. However, recently, Omar, a young Sudanese chess player, broke the rules and played against an Israeli named Matan (pictured) causing the Sudanese Chess Association’s president to resign, and apologize to the Sudanese and Palestinian.
