I have been fighting against their wilful ignorance,  and their hatred of the outside world. I’m not saying I’m 100 percent, but I’ve been long time working on it.

My parents were miserable, bigoted, ignorant people, they hated Catholics, Jews, and people of color. Because THEY believed that stuff, they expected ME to. That’s one tradition I can damn well do without.
