The March to End Rape Culture, Philadelphia

Once again, women and their supporters will take to the streets of Philadelphia to hold the March To End Rape Culture, on Saturday, October 3, 2015. It will start with a rally at 11:00 PM, at Thomas Paine Plaza, 1401 JFK Boulevard, to protest rape and other forms of sexual abuse on women, and to protest the cultural attitudes that encourage the sexual abuse of women.

Speakers will include: Kelly Fitzpatrick, LGBT liaison of the City of Philadelphia;

La’Donna Boyens, Positive Women’s Network;

Dr. Timaree Schmidt, sex educator;

Shevaun Brannigan, poet;

Kalia Boulware, Rutgers Women Organized Against Harassment;

Zahre Belle, poet;

Quisha Anthony, VOICE;

Destine Cubler, poet;

Celena Morrison, Trans Wellness Project;

Darragh Danderand, March To End Rape Culture;

Tara Murtha, Women’s Law Project

Sponsoring organizations include PAVE Philly, Pussy Division, Take Back The Night, Project SAFE, Philadelphia NOW, SWOP, WOAR, Therapy Center of Philadelphia, Wooden Shoe Books, NAACP Temple Division, Women’s Law Project, VOICE, Philly Queer Lunch, Drexel SAFE, and Women’s Way.

Counselors will be on hand in case participants experience trigger episodes. There will also be interpreters of American Sign Language (ASL).
