IN an interview on Real America’s Voice network, Kevin Roberts, President of the Heritage Foundation-the nursery of Project 2025, their bible for a fascist takeover-boasted that his side would “win,” and they were on the verge of a “second American revolution,” which “will remain bloodless, if the Left allows it to be.” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FznbfmZ0JZE)
trump has also used violent rhetoric, and his rhetoric has stirred his minions in to real violence. recently at a rally in Detroit, trump proclamed there would be a “bloodbath” if he wasn’t elected. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWVbXqNvb0o) He has also urged the Proud Boys, the way-right gang of thugs and goons, to “stand back and stand by” in his first debate with Joe Biden in 2020; they have also looked at themselves as trump’s private army. And we must never EVER forget how he instigated a violent mob of his followers on January 6, 2021, to stage a coup d’etat on the Capitol, ransacking the offices and chambers, threatening to “Hang Mike Pence” (trump’s own Vice-President) and ready to kill any member of Congress that they saw. It was an attempt to thwart the peaceful transfer of power, and to cancel out the votes of Americans. (Please, NEVER forget this, AT ALL.)
This threat comes from someone who makes his loving thinking up crazy autocratic ideas, not getting his own hands dirty, while someone else gets killed or wounded carrying out their “revolution.” That has been the stock in trade of fascist movements-like that of trump, no sugar-coating. In the origional Fascist Party of Mussolini in Italy, the party’s squads beat up and murdered many of their opponents, before and after seizing power-and the authorities of the time, the corporate and governmental elites, let them do it, as they were beating up, and down, Communists, Socialists, and labor activists, who would challenge their power.
That’s the nature of fascism. It’s the belief that there is a natural hierarchy in society, and anyone who challenges that hierarchy-the ones at the top of the hierarchy-finds some people a little lower in the heirarchy to beat them back into their “place.” trump and his acolydes know they can’t ever win a fair, democratic election, so they resort to terror to scare their opponents. There’s the physical violence of murder and beating-up,and there’s the state-level tactic of voter ID laws to frustrat people wanting to vote.
Robert’s phrase, “if the left allows it to be” stems from the idea that we on the left are cowardly, and we’ll just cave into them and crawl back into a hole; I’m thinking of Al Gore, in the 2000 election, knowing he had the majority of the popular vote, and the gang of well-dressed thugs, organized by Roger Stone, mobbing the election count in Florida. Gore, for what he believed was for peace and harmony, conceded defeat, confirming to rightists that bullying works to get their way.
The HELL with that shit! we WILL NOT give in to these fascist freaks! We WON’T cower to them! We WILL resist them every step of the way, and we WILL elect Joe Biden for another great term as President on November 5, and we WILL keep on resisting them every day after that! You with me?
