Earlier this year, trump announced he would allow citizenship for white Afrikaners from South Africa, descendants of the Dutch-French Huguenot settlers who dominated South African society and developed the racist Apartheid system, offering a “safe refuge” for South African whites allegedly “suffering” from “racial discrimination” from the post-Apartheid government, due to alleged land seizures. The bone of contention was a land-reform law the South African government passed, allegedly seizing the farmland of white Afrikaner farmers without compensation.
The reality is white South Africans, including the Afrikaners, are economically well-off, owning 70% of the farmland, and enjoy a higher standard of living than the majority Black population, despite comprising 7 percent of the population.

This is an ongoing theme for trump, and for the entire right-wing movement: “White people are being discriminated against in favor of Black people!” You see this in attacks on the very word “woke,” which simply means—pay attention now—that you’re aware and conscious of your surroundings, and of what’s going on in society. But the conservative media have pronounced the word “woke” as something bad, like a disease—“We don’t want no ‘woke’ stuff around here!” It’s an old advertising trick, to use phrases and inflections on words to treat something neutral as something horrible. (Commercial advertising, and news, are pretty shallow of their thinking.)
You can also see this in the Charlottesville march of August 2016, where practically every neo-Nazi and racist group gathered, and marched while chanting “Jews will not replace us!” (wanna bet, asshole?); and in the arguments about immigration from the southern border, where people from various Latin-American countries enter to escape poverty, gang violence, and political oppression, and try to attain some of the American dream. This is the “Great Replacement Theory,” the idea that Jews are behind the immigration of non-white people, to displace the white population.
Much of this stems from the reports from the Bureau of the Census that, from 2030 to 2060, the non-Hispanic white population will decrease, due to low birthrates and the rising number of deaths; also, the number of people who identify as of two or more races will be the highest-rising group, followed by Hispanic and Asian-descended people; and the foreign-born population will increase to approximately 69 million by 2060. Thus, a once-dominant demographic group will no longer be dominant; and the racists and neo-Nazis (along with SOME “mainstream” conservatives) are thinking “They’ll mistreat US like WE mistreated THEM!” OR, we can do our work in ending racism and neo-Nazism, along with their after-effects, such as dividing of the working class, poverty, poor education, trump, etc.
