Jill Stein-Spoiler Alert!

She’s at it again! Jill Stein is once more running for President on the Green Party ticket. In Pennsylvania, the other third-party candidate is Chase Oliver of the Libertarian Party. (Other minor candidates, Cornel West and Claudia De la Cruz, of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, have been taken off the ballot in Pennsylvania.)

It’s the same pattern in presidential elections; if a militant faction loses, the cry comes out, “Let’s make a new, third party for ourselves.” This includes the disenchantment the electorate has with the political process, and the gripe “There’s no difference between the two parties.”

Stein is not fazed by the complaints that her candidacy would take votes away from Kamala Harris, thus allowing Donald trump to win and regain the Presidency (God forbid!). In fact, much of Stein’s rhetoric is aimed against the Democrats, with not a word against the Republicans. Trump even said of Stein “I like her very much” because “she takes 100 percent from them.” AND, she’s not ashamed of it.

Plus, she’s getting help from some unsavory sources. Noted Republican operatives-Jay Sekulow (who represented trump during his impeachments), Michael D. Dean (who worked to overturn the 2020 election results for trump), and Jefferson Thomas, who has done legal work for trump and Elon Musk)-have been helping Stein with problems in getting on the ballot in certain states.

Plus, Stein’s Russian connections have drawn scrutiny. In 2015, she traveled to Moscow for a celebration of the anniversary of the Russian state-run TV channel RT, a prime vehicle for Kremlin-friendly propaganda; seated with here were THE Vladimir Putin and Michael Flynn, trump’s former National Security Advisor. A year later, RT hosted a Green party presidential debate.

Here it is: a candidate promoting a great progressive platform-protect the environment and combat climate change; make our foreign policy less militarized; pro-labor, pro-medical care, pro-housing, and pro-justice. And she’s close to people who are opposed to such ideas, in Moscow AND in Washington. Hasn’t she thought this through? Has she ever thought about that? OR have the Russians, like with trump, played on some flaw of hers, like naiveté, or vanity? It’s quite a sad fall for such a promising movement, with great progressive ideas, but we have to stay focused on beating trump and electing Kamala Harris, and every other Democrat down the line.

Vote blue, all the way through!
