In the recent Mason Moment, I stumbled on the names of the martyrs of Haymarket. here they are:
Albert Parsons, Oscar Neebe, August Spies, George Engel, Michael Schwab, Louis Lingg, Samuel Fielden, and Adolph Fischer.
These were the men who, out of trumped-up charges and a government hell-bent on destroying worker’s efforts to organize, were hanged by the state of Illinois for the Haymarket incident of 1886. It’s from their persecution and deaths we have the rights to a decent way of living through the Labor movement. Please know their names, spread their fame, and learn the real history of our country.
