Tomorrow, December 17, there will be a silent memorial service honoring sex workers who were killed while at their jobs, making money to earn a living live all other workers. In Philadelphia, it will take place at Thomas Paine Plaza, 1401 JFK Boulevard, from 12-4:00 PM. After this, there will be a discussion and presentation at the Philadelphia Mausoleum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), 531 N. 12th Street in Philadelphia, from 7-10:00 PM.
trump wants to dump money into his stupid border wall and on his “space force,” costing billions; but $25 million is peanuts in Washington, and with Mueller it’s a great investment, not only in saving taxpayers money but in saving our government.
We’re coming to realize the futility of policing consensual sexual activity by consenting adults, often performed on those assigned to police such activity. Criminalizing sex work only drives it underground, and the people involved in it are at the mercy of pimps and the law, both oppressing them and harming them; but if it was allowed in the light of day, the practitioners of the”world’s oldest profession” can safely work their craft. It stems partially from the sex-negative attitude this country has developed and is slowly unlearning.
Conway and the rest of the Republicans are messing with the wrong woman. Keep it up, Alex!
The Republicans, like Hatch, were pretty, absolutist when Clinton was accused of his affair with Lewinsky, demanding he be removed over a blowjob. But when a Republican as President has fun with a porn star, it’s “eh, no biggie, he’s doing our job for us.”
This is the editorial by Paul Krugman, about the authoritarian tendencies of the Republican party, the party of patriots, the party of “plain ordinary Americans” as opposed to the “elitist” liberal Democrats. In spite of their claims to popular support, the Republicans have resorted to gerrymandering districts to keep their people in legislative office; passed laws that prevent demographic groups, like minorities and college students, they know won’t vote for them from voting; and tried to bully people out of the idea of voting when the day comes. They don’t give a damn about the people they supposedly represent.
But, I still seek sunlight through the clouds. People are rising up and not taking it any more, which is what the Republicans and their corporate paymaster hope they do. We have the rather extreme example of the”yellow vest” movement in France, where people are rioting against economic policies favoring corporations and the wealthy. (Macron, a lot smarter and smoother than trump, still has the same economic policies.) Does that give us any hope, or ideas? It’s not hopeless, the fight goes on, and we the people shall win.
This is a response to the “Christian” right-wingers who get hyper if someone says “Happy Holidays.”
Proof positive that racism and religious bigotry rule the Republican party, and that it has to go the way of the Whigs, the Federalists, and the dodo.
