November 3rd is Election Day in Pennsylvania. For FAR too long, this nation has the reputation of having the LOWEST voter turnout of any “democracy.” What kind of democracy is it when we sit back and allow corporate-owned-and-operated hacks get elected to office, based on so-called “family values” they neither believe in or practice? You don’t need some hot, sexy issue, like same-sex marriage, to get out to vote; you just need to pay attention to the things going on in your community. That applied equally and especially to elections for lower-rung offices, like county commissioners and city councils, as much as it does for Senators and Presidents. As my illustrious mentor and father figure Harry Hyde Jr. (of blessed memory), put it, “Vote as you please, but PLEASE vote.”
