People’s Media for the People

Last night I attended the membership meeting of PhillyCAM, Philadelphia’s public access cable channel. PhillyCAM has programs made by working and low-income people who tell their stories, without the diluting and dumbing-down done in the commercial media-and with no commercial interruptions. PhillyCAM has news and information relevant to the experience of people in the communities of Philadelphia, dealing with such issues as schools, homelessness, drug addiction, and the minimum wage; and cultural activites such as jazz and art exhibits. If you want to help people’s media that show’s people’s talents, contact PhillyCAM at phillycam.org.
